The Truth About Cats and Dogs

Jen gave me a DVD copy of this film. Fave ko kasi yan, ewan ko ba kung bakit eh napakajologs naman! Ehehe...maybe it's because, I can relate to Abby? (Janeane Garofalo's character)...wahehe! Ang story e tungkol kay Abby, isang successful veterinarian/radio announcer pero napaka-insecure kasi akala nya panget sya. Nainlove sa boses nya si Brian (Ben Chaplin). Brian also finds Abby na super smart, witty, and spontaneous. Kaso, napagkamalan ni Brian na si Abby si Noelle (played by Uma Thurman). E na-love at first sight etong si Brian kay Noelle kasi nga maganda sya...pero bobita! Sus, e syempre, you can't have it all no! E kung naging matalino pa yung character ni Uma, kawawa naman ni Abby..wahehe! So un nga, nagkagusto si Brian kay Noelle at na-inlove na rin si Noelle kay Brian na nagselos naman itong Abby kasi nga type na rin nya si Brian na naging dahilan ng away ng dalawang babaita!

Eto na yung fave scene ko (bukod sa SOP ni Brian at Abby! wahehe!) kung san nagpo-propose si Brian kay Noelle na akala nya e si Abby pa rin yun. Nasa labas ng CR si Brian, si fake na Abby ay nasa loob pero actually wala sya doon. So sa madaling sabi, nakikipag-usap sa wala si Brian! Ahehe! Si tunay na Abby e nasa likod ni Brian at pinapakinggan ang proposal ni lalake.

BRIAN: Abby...I love you because I can't stop thinking about you for 1 second...because I stay at home every afternoon when I should be working, to hear you on the radio...because I want to read you to sleep every night and wake up to you playing violin every morning.

ABBY: And because you're so beautiful. You forgot to say "I love you because you're so beautiful."

BRIAN: No, I didn't. I mean yes, she is but that's not why I love her. I love her for who she is. And even if she weren't, it wouldn't matter.

ABBY: Of course it matters! It always matters!

BRIAN: No, the truth is...

ABBY: The truth is Helen of Troy.

BRIAN: What?

ABBY: Helen of Troy. Men die for that shit. The truth is you wouldn't be so enamoured with Abby if she looked like, um---

BRIAN: What? What are you talking about? Look, you know how someone's appearance can change the longer you know them? How a really attractive person, if you don't like them, can become more ugly, whereas someone you might not even have noticed that you wouldn't look at more once...if you love them, they become the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. All you want is to be near them. I love Abby. It doesn't matter what she looks like.

(Abby becomes teary eyed)

BRIAN: What happened?

ABBY: I'm happy that you said that.

BRIAN: Well I'm glad that you like it 'cause she hasn't said a word.
